In today’s Gospel, we heard about Jesus’ third appearance to the apostles after His Resurrection, when He meets them on the shore after a night of empty nets.
Father Philip reflected on how “obedience brings abundance” in every part of our lives. When Jesus told the apostles to cast their nets again, Peter obeyed immediately, even though the request made little sense after hours of failure. That simple act of trust and obedience opened the way for God’s generosity, and the nets were filled with 153 fish—a sign of the overflowing grace that follows when we listen to the Lord.
Father invited us to consider where Christ may be asking us to trust Him more deeply, and how obedience to His voice can bring abundance not only in results, but in peace, purpose, and discipleship.

April 12: Divine Mercy Sunday
The first Sunday after Easter is Divine Mercy Sunday, also known as the Feast of Mercy.
Divine Mercy Sunday began with Sister Faustina Kowalska, a Polish nun who had visions of Jesus in the 1930s. In one vision, Jesus requested her help in establishing the second Sunday of Easter as “Divine Mercy Sunday” to highlight its connection to the merciful love of God manifested in Christ’s Paschal mystery.
On April 30, 2000, Pope John Paul II officially established Divine Mercy Sunday for the universal church. On the same day, he canonized St. Faustina.
